Founded in 1974 as an air quality consulting firm, Trinity Consultants has grown into a global environmental, engineering, and scientific consulting organization. The company helps clients address complex environmental, regulatory, operational, and sustainability challenges through consulting, technology, training, and staffing services.

Trinity’s expertise spans environmental consulting, water and ecology, life sciences, and the built environment. Its teams help organizations secure permits, maintain regulatory compliance, manage risk, and make informed decisions about their operations.

At the WV Regional Technology Park, Trinity’s local team focuses primarily on environmental consulting and regulatory compliance for industrial and commercial clients throughout West Virginia and the surrounding region.

“Our team helps clients evaluate permitting requirements, prepare air permit applications and emissions calculations, develop compliance programs, prepare regulatory reports, conduct audits and compliance assessments, and coordinate with state and federal regulatory agencies,” the Trinity team explains.

Meet the Trinity Team

Leading Trinity’s local work is Melissa Hatfield-Atkinson, Managing Consultant, who brings more than 31 years of experience in air permitting and regulatory compliance. Her background includes project technical leadership, air permitting, emissions inventories, compliance program development, compliance evaluations, regulatory training, and regulatory guidance.

Before joining the consulting industry, Melissa spent 24 years working in the oil and gas industry. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from West Virginia Institute of Technology and is a licensed Professional Engineer in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Virginia.

Trinity’s local team also includes Carter Cochran, Associate Consultant, who joined the firm in June after earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University. Carter supports technical analyses, emissions calculations, permitting tasks, and compliance projects for clients throughout the region.

Together, the team combines decades of industry and consulting experience with a new generation of engineering expertise.
